OK, let’s be honest (for just a minute!) most babies don’t actually NEED the load of presents we think we should provide. They’re too little to understand getting a gift, and other than a tendency to eat the wrapping paper, may not appreciate whatever you give them (except the box it comes in). But starting traditions and hoping for that smile, laughter and extra bits to play together, it’s so much fun buying them a little treat that it’s hard to resist!
Obviously at 1+ years, or with older kids around, there is no getting away from the fact…. everyone loves a gift, and most of us love giving them!
So for tiny ones, you could consider re-gifting something they already own (who’s going to know?!) or something 2nd hand (I have done both with a 7 year old, with something they had obviously forgotten about and not unboxed & 2nd hand - cleaned up and they had no clue!)- see our article on Shopping on a budget- but if you really want to get something for baby, here are our Top Ten suggestions...

Yes, you read that right! Once baby has discovered their feet, you’ll find they are endlessly fascinated by their toes (it’s hilarious). These socks come with rattles and taggies, to stimulate baby’s sensory development - and to keep their hands busy when you’re changing the nappy. Win win!

Ahh, Sophie. The delightful giraffe teether with the really annoying squeak! But babies absolutely adore her. This version of Sophie is great: a soft, natural-rubber teething ring made from sustainable, ethical materials and food-grade paint: perfect for baby’s tetchy gums. And no squeak. Bliss.
