Having tried a load on at John Lewis - I found Sony to be the best value. Although If you can afford Bowes & Hawkins (nearer £500 on amazon) or Bose Bose best on Amazon this pair is £189 (RRP £249.95) although to get microphone look on Amazon £279
(£249 version).
So this was my favourite & affordable for me (based on sound quality and noise reduction)... Sony WH-BX910, these are cheapest now on Amazon at £129. Amazon reduced from £180 to £129, or £77 similar without phone capabilities.
Beats Solo3
The reviews on these are AMAZING - but I have not tried them - so hence going for the Sony ones (which i have tried in store). If you get them and they are as good as everyone says - I might be jealous!
